Tribute To Catherine E Coulson - Our Beloved Log Lady

Today is a tremendously sad day. We have lost Catherine E Coulson, our beloved Log Lady, to cancer at the age of 71. Tonight the owls are silent...

Catherine was an incredibly inspiring woman. She worked with David Lynch since his days of making Eraserhead. Her contributions to Eraserhead include loading film, focus pulling, creating Henry's iconic hairstyle, boom op and cooking all of the meals!

Her portrayal of The Log Lady was integral to the mythology and mystery of the world of Twin Peaks. Her introductions to the episodes were legendary. She often attended the Twin Peaks festivals and seemed to love the fans of the show. I regret never having met her myself.

Although she is no longer on this earth, she will live forever in Twin Peaks and will always be missed. In a moving statement David Lynch said the following:

"Today I lost one of my dearest friends, Catherine Coulson. Catherine was solid gold. She was always there for her friends - she was filled with love for all people - for her family - for her work. She was a tireless worker. She had a great sense of humor - she loved to laugh and make people laugh. She was a spiritual person - a longtime TM meditator. She was the Log Lady."

The Twin Peaks UK Festival will be dedicated to her memory this coming weekend. It will be emotional but wonderful to celebrate her life amongst Twin Peaks fans.

"When this kind of fire starts, it is very hard to put out. The tender boughs of innocence burn first, and the wind rises, and then all goodness is in jeopardy."
