The Twin Peaks UK Festival 2015 - Weekend Review!

I find it difficult to put into words exactly why I am in love with Twin Peaks because for me Twin Peaks provides this certain unique feeling and atmosphere I've never found anywhere else. This year’s Twin Peaks UK Festival captured this beautifully, for it is proving just as difficult to convey in only words just how wonderful, strange and special the weekend turned out to be.

The glorious Genesis cinema in Whitechapel
For the first time the Twin Peaks UK Festival lasted two days and although I am now exhausted, I wish it could be even longer! The world seems very dull after having spent the weekend immersed in the dark and sublime world of David Lynch.

The Genesis cinema in Whitechapel was a spectacular venue for the event and the festival team went to great lengths to transform it into a Twin Peaks dream. When the doors opened on day one we piled into the foyer which was adorned with enormous black and white chevrons and red curtains. We had stepped straight into the black lodge. It was clear that the festival organizers had worked tirelessly to get the weekend ready for us. The wonderful Lindsey Bowden, festival producer and founder, stepped outside to greet VIPs as they arrived and despite having not slept at all, she was cheerful and bright eyed and just as excited as we were.

Superb artwork on sale in the gallery.
There was an amazing familial feeling as everyone is just so damn friendly, including the event staff who were welcoming and lovely to chat to. Some people went to great lengths with their costumes - last year's ceiling fan was equally as obscure having transformed into the door knob Josie was trapped in. However, I don't think she wished to be known as The Knob Lady, referring to her guise as an "opening device". Lovely Mario arrived on Saturday as Killer Bob, and on the Sunday in full beard and wig as Dr Jacoby before transforming in the evening into the Log Lady - this is serious dedication to cosplay. Our friends Fluffy and JJ steal the show each year and looked utterly brilliant as Pete Martell and Catherine in disguise as Tojamura. I came in full Laura Palmer prom princess attire on the Sunday and carted a picture frame around with me. I was thrilled to win some David Lynch coffee to take home for my efforts!

Pete and Tojamura!

Donna Hayward - my talented sister made this dress for herself.

VIPs were greeted and given Special Agent name badges and little chocolate bunny cup cakes. Our merchandise packs were bursting with goodies including a Double R Diner mug and awesome tee shirt. The entire venue looked spectacular – we sat and drank delicious David Lynch coffee in a bar which resembled the Roadhouse and there were doughnuts piled high everywhere! Instantly the Twin Peaks family feeling was apparent. People from all walks of life, and across Europe, had come together to attend the festival. The venue was buzzing with excitement as we took our seats in the cinema, waiting for the festivities to begin.

Of course, nobody could forget that the event was tinged with an immense sadness after the death of Catherine Coulson, our beloved log lady, had happened mere days before. A video message Catherine had recorded for last year's festival was played and seemed so haunting considering it was only one year old. Many of us brought logs adorned with messages for her and a book of condolences was passed round. This will be given to Catherine’s daughter and was a touching thing to do for someone we will all miss so much.

Logs laid down in memory of dear Catherine Coulson
Indeed death, sadness and darkness is a prominent theme in Twin Peaks and just as we must confront it in our own personal lives, Lynch and Frost force us to reflect on it head on throughout Twin Peaks. They take us to places we don't often dare to examine. Something which Lynchian Cabaret troupe The Double R Club also delight in, for one of the highlights of  the festival was their shocking and macabre re-enactment performance of the death of Laura Palmer.

Fabulous Rose Thorne in Glastonbury Grove
Benjamin Louche appears from within the train car.
See you in the sycamore trees...
Beware of BOB
An enormous train car was built from scratch outside the venue complete with Glastonbury Grove sycamore trees and pool of engine oil. Stepping outside and seeing it for the first time I audibly gasped at how truly spectacular the scene was. We were instantly transported into the middle of the forest. The disturbing and realistic performance was something I will never, ever forget. The amazing actors put everything they had into their delivery and Benjamin Louche set the scene in the most perfectly sinister way, transporting us all straight into Fire Walk With Me to become voyeurs of a horrible moment in Twin Peaks history. I was lucky enough to witness the last performance of the weekend with none other than Al Strobel, Sherilyn Fenn and Madchen Amick in attendance. This sensational experience moved me to tears.

The sensational Double R Club with Sherilyn Fenn and Madchen Amick
Of course the actors are who we are all desperate to meet – the signing sessions ran smoothly and they were all incredibly gracious and friendly. Al Strobel loves to chat with everyone and is utterly delightful to talk to. He told me he loves the Twin Peaks fans because they chat with him like he is a friend. Madchen and Sherilyn are very inspirational women. During the Q&A run by Time Out Magazine’s Tom Huddleston they discussed their experiences as women in the film industry, recent accomplishments (Sherilyn has written a children's book and Madchen a script), meditation and motherhood. They all teetered around the subject of the new series and were careful whenever questions verged in that direction but their enthusiasm for Twin Peaks, David Lynch, Mark Frost and the fans was evident. Mina Tobias and Julee Cruise were also present for the Q&A, both of whom had performed the evening before. Mina is the spitting image of her mother but has her own unique style and tremendous talent. It is clear that Madchen is bursting with pride and it was lovely to see them together. Witnessing Julee Cruise perform was a dream come true, she put on a great show despite not being well and it was enjoyed by all, many being overcome with emotion.

Mina Tobias
The VIP tickets seemed pricey at the time but were worth every penny and we were all extremely well looked after. There was a private VIP lounge to sit in full of squishy arm chairs and a charming  barman who served us David Lynch coffee and doughnuts all weekend. Agent Cooper’s tapes played on loop which was a strangely calming background noise and fabulous coffee vodka made by Rose Thorne of The Double R Club provided the perfect pick me up. Rose gleefully explained to attendees who seemed unsure whether vodka at 10.30am was a good idea or not, that it provides you with three of the main food groups, "cafffeine, sugar and alcohol"!

In between screenings of episodes, Blue Velvet, The Missing Pieces and Fire Walk With Me we were entertained in astounding fashion by The Double R Club. Highlights included a breathtaking vocal performance from Em Brulée, a sexy and sinister strip tease from Miss Miranda, hilarious songs by Laurence Owen and shocking fire breathing and sword swallowing from Heavy Metal Pete and Snake Fervor.

Heavy Metal Pete
This fabulous weekend ended with a hilarious game of 'Twingo', a quiz and a doughnut eating competition. Followed by much hugging and proclamations of not being able to wait until the following year. It was an incredible Twin Peaks event and we are all so grateful to the organizers who make it all possible for us. Sincerest thanks to Lindsey and her team, The Double R Club, Genesis Cinema and all of their staff for a brilliant festival. Until next year, see you in the trees...

Time for the prom Queen to get a taxi home...

Fell in love with this gorgeous print. I'll put it on my wall...
Big thanks to Emilie Declerk, Fluffy, Brigid and @sstealer for the photos!

Tribute To Catherine E Coulson - Our Beloved Log Lady

Today is a tremendously sad day. We have lost Catherine E Coulson, our beloved Log Lady, to cancer at the age of 71. Tonight the owls are silent...

Catherine was an incredibly inspiring woman. She worked with David Lynch since his days of making Eraserhead. Her contributions to Eraserhead include loading film, focus pulling, creating Henry's iconic hairstyle, boom op and cooking all of the meals!

The Owls Are Not What They Seem: Twin Peaks Comes To London

At a secret location in East London, down some stairs and into a basement, you can leave the big smoke behind and enter the town of Twin Peaks. On Friday night myself and my friend Al put on our finest Twin Peaks attire and as soon as we spotted a line of people wearing mainly plaid, we knew we had found the right place.

The Owls Are Not What They Seem is an immersive theatre/dining event produced by Lemonade and Laughing Gas. Tickets cost £66.50 which gives you the full experience, including a 3-course meal and cocktail and I guarantee it is worth every penny. If you are thinking of going and want everything to be kept a mystery just know that I thought this was a tremendous event and would highly recommend it. For anyone else curious to know what happened, read on...

Everyone was asked to bring an owl with them. This was our contribution!

Preparing For The Twin Peaks UK Festival 2015!

The Twin Peaks UK Festival has become an annual event for my older sister and I who are Peaks fanatics living in London. We first attended in 2011 and have been nearly every year since. As soon as tickets were released online I snapped up a couple of VIPs for us and now, months later, the TP UK Fest is less than 3 weeks away! It is happening again and I am so excited...

For anyone who has never attended and is thinking of going, I urge you to get your tickets now and not to miss out on this spectacular event. This year for the first time it will run across an entire weekend in the amazing East London Genesis cinema. The organizers have promised the most ambitious festival to date and after revealing some secrets in the past few weeks it truly sounds like we will all be in for a very wonderful and strange weekend.

Keep The Mystery Alive

It is an extremely exciting time for Twin Peaks fans. Our wishes have been granted and the new season of Twin Peaks is being made right now. It has been confirmed that principal photography is due to start in the next few weeks and David Lynch himself, as well as many production staff, have been spotted on location in North Bend, WA, where the original Twin Peaks pilot was shot. As the giant told Cooper in his bedroom at The Great Northern, "it is happening again"...

However, sightings of crew members on location have sparked debate among the Peakies as information which could be deemed spoilers began to surface on Twitter and Facebook. I was casually scrolling through my timeline when I came across information which I believe very much confirms the return of a certain character and the blatant suggestion that they own a shop in Twin Peaks. It was seeing this that made me decide that the sharing of exciting news of what is happening on location has now reached a point where we should make the decision to keep it secret.

I am terrible at surprises. I absolutely love them but I am naturally someone who loves to plan ahead and find out as much information as I can. But the anticipation of a surprise, of a holiday, of a special event, or in this case a new series of your most beloved TV show, can be just as fun as finally getting to experience it when it finally happens. I therefore do not want to know anything significant about the new series until it is broadcast and we all get to experience it together just as it was meant to be.

During this year's Twin Peaks Festival in the US, Catherine Coulson/The Log Lady relaid a message to attending fans from David Lynch himself. He said, "We live in a world where there really is no mystery or honoring of real mystery any more. I find that personally depressing. So I would like to rediscover a world where everyone discovers on their own what real mystery is."

I agree with him. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with and consuming information. If Twin Peaks had first been broadcast today it wouldn't surprise me if some of the most significant episodes had been leaked online and everyone found out who killed Laura Palmer prematurely. Let us hope this will not happen this time around. After all, it was pressure from the networks to end the mystery that forced Lynch and Frost to reveal who the killer was before they wanted to and really caused the downward spiral of the second season.

If you cannot wait and want to know as much as you can about the new season before anyone else then of course you can. But I believe all of the secrets should be revealed when the time is right. Let the mystery live. This blog will remain 100% spoiler free!

What Will Season 3 Bring? My Predictions.

I wish to start this post by sincerely stating that if it weren't for this blog, I would choose not to give the new season too much thought. I trust that when the creative minds of David Lynch and Mark Frost collide, the result will be perfect and more bizarre than my average mind can muster. However, for the sake of blog upkeep, I will attempt to make some speculations and by 2016/17 we will all know how close to the truth I was...

The opening sequence is iconic and so utterly perfect. And the new series is a continuation, not a remake. There is absolutely no reason for the opening titles to change in anyway and I do not doubt for a second that they would. Sherilyn Fenn herself remarked at comic con that she highly doubted Lynch would alter them and I sure hope not.

I am no prude. Trust. But some of the things I see on mainstream television at a reasonable hour shocks even me! Have you seen an episode of Game of Thrones?! Characters have serious intellectual conversations in all kinds of explicit naked positions. It aint the twin beds and no feet off the ground of the 50s anymore. Everything goes.
Twin Peaks was filled with lust, affairs, romance and was incredibly sexy! But compared to what is now accepted on TV, it is tame in comparison. Lynch's film Fire Walk With Me on the other hand, was ultimately more raunchy and explicit. It had good reason to be - the book 'The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer' goes to dark, twisted erotic places and Laura writes about them without holding back. The bones of her tragedy was sexual abuse at the hands of her father from the age of 12 and Fire Walk With Me turns a mirror to this directly.
Lynch was free to do what he wanted without the restraints from the television networks and I predict that season 3 will have the freedom to be more explicit, yet will remain dignified, classy and would never flaunt erotica and nudity without a reasonable context.

The 6th Annual Miss Twin Peaks Contest

Something I absolutely adore about living in London is that no matter what your likes and interests are, you will be able to indulge them. Even if that passion happens to be a little more on the obscure/niche side... On Thursday I rushed home from work to beat my face, throw on an old lady grey wig and jump in a taxi to Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club for an evening of Lynchian cabaret and burlesque hosted by The Double R Club – it was the evening of The 6th Annual Miss Twin Peaks Contest and it was an absolute riot!

The Miss Twin Peaks Contest is an anti-pageant in which the contestants compete for the title of Miss Twin Peaks (and the glittering crown that comes with it!). Each of the unique performances were inspired by the strange and beautiful world of David Lynch and the evening was hosted by award winning cabaret host, Mr ‘So Fuckin Suave’ himself, Benjamin Louche. Louche was thoroughly compelling, entertaining and humorous and is the perfect compère for the contest.

In that case, I'm going to let you in on a little secret... Every day, once a day, give yourself a present! And here is my guide to the perfect Peaky presents... I hope you enjoy it - let me know if you have stumbled upon any great merchandise or Twin Peaks gifts. I'll add them to my wish list!

Twin Peaks Inspired Watch

I have no idea if the designer of this watch was deliberately paying homage to Twin Peaks but it sure looks like a watch straight out of The Black Lodge. To the non-Peaks obsessed this is a stylish and functional watch perfect for every day wear and a real statement. To us this is the only Twin Peaks watch worth wearing! Available here from Komono

Twin Peaks Tarot Cards

Twin Peaks Tarot Cards by Claire Laffar
My older sister indulged in a set of these incredible Twin Peaks tarot cards at the Twin Peaks UK Festival a couple of years ago. We met the extraordinarily talented Claire Laffar who has designed and illustrated each one herself - what a talent! They are so intricately detailed and unique. My sister is very restrictive about letting people even touch them but did ask Dana Ashbrook to sign the Bobby Briggs card last year... Worth every penny and available on Etsy!

The Twin Peaks UK Festival Tickets

My tickets proudly displayed - cannot wait for this year's fest!

This is an unmissable event for UK (or European) Peakies! I have attended four times and it just gets better and better each year. The organizers truly put their heart and souls into providing the best Twin Peaks experience imaginable - screenings, meet & greets with the stars, performances, doughnuts, coffee and so much more! This year's festival is (for the first time ever) held over an entire weekend in Genesis cinema in East London on October 3rd & 4th. Tickets are available direct from their website and are selling fast!

Twin Peaks Cards Against Humanity

This is such a hilarious game to play round the dinner table when your bellies are full and your glass of prosecco is fuller! Now you can make it Twin Peaks themed with this fabulous stack of cards. I need these in my life!

The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer & The Autobiography of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper

The accompaniment books are really great reads and essential for any Twin Peaks fan's collection! The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer was written by David Lynch's daughter Jennifer Lynch and was a best seller when originally published after season 1 had aired. Jennifer really captures Laura's spirit perfectly and it is a compelling, sad and disturbing read. Coop's autobiography was penned by Scott Frost, the brother of Mark Frost (co-creator of Twin Peaks). Again, it features some heavy and disturbing content and is a real page turner. Set long before the events that took place in Twin Peaks, it provides a significant insight into Cooper's life. Available on Amazon!

"This Would Look Nice On Your Wall..." Print

Own the exact print from Fire Walk With Me!
An exact replica of the unsettling print the mysterious Mrs Tremond gives dear Laura in Fire Walk With Me. Give with caution though... Although I think this is a really cool item and I'm sure many would love, there is no way I would be able to sleep with this in my bedroom!!! Buy here from Etsy.

Heart Shaped Necklace

"Now my heart belongs to you..."
Remember the heart shaped necklace Laura and secret boyfriend James Hurley shared? "Now my heart belongs to you..." she said in a ridiculously over the top romantic flashback. What a great gift for a loved one who loves Twin Peaks. You can find these in many high street jewelers and from Amazon. I found one in Claire's Accessories a few years ago and gave it to my best friend for her birthday. I even hollowed out a coconut and put it inside like a Dr. Jacoby inspired gift box!

David Lynch Signature Cup Coffee

If you are a Twin Peaks fan, then you must also be a coffee drinker. It's fundamental! David Lynch now produces his very own brand of coffee and I can tell you, it's damn fine! But a little pricier than your usual run of the mill stuff so it makes the perfect indulgent present. Buy direct from the man himself here.

The Entire Mystery

The most up to date and ultimate Twin Peaks DVD box set in High Definition Blu-ray featuring all episodes, Fire Walk With Me and nearly 90 minutes of never before seen, deleted footage! It is beautifully presented and also includes some new featurettes with David Lynch and The Palmer family. I sadly still only have the now old, gold edition box set and am in desperate need to upgrade!

Available from Amazon!

Twin Peaks High School Sweatshirt

Enjoying a damn fine cup of coffee in my souvenir cup from the Twin Peaks Festival
and wearing my Laura Palmer sweater!
For my 21st birthday my best friend forever Sarah (seen below left dressed as Josie Packard!) bought me a Laura Palmer Twin Peaks High School Phys Ed Department hoodie. I still love it! It's gorgeously cozy and I love wearing it out and people remarking on it when they too share a love for Twin Peaks. I wore it to the festival that year as I had the blonde Laura hair to match! You can purchase them from café press here.

Twin Peaks and Showtime: The Story So Far

Whilst researching my dissertation on the work of David Lynch, I was dismayed to read many different quotes from Lynch stating that he had no desire to ever return to the town of Twin Peaks. Every so often new rumors would emerge saying there would be a revival but they were always shot down. I truly believed it would never happen. Until, on October 3rd 2014, David Lynch and Mark Frost both tweeted simultaneously "That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee" and the internet exploded with excitement.

On October 6th, Lynch and Frost tweeted that, in the words of the giant, " is happening again" and confirmed that network Showtime would be reviving the series with both Lynch and Frost writing every episode and Lynch directing.

During the Q&A at the Twin Peaks UK Festival 2014, Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer/Maddy Ferguson) confirmed to an audience of ecstatic fans that Lynch had called her that week to let her know she would definitely be featured in the new series, along with Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) who was also in attendance. The audience went wild with enthusiastic applause and following from that more announcements came from other cast members, either confirming their involvement or saying how delighted they would be to get involved. Most importantly, Kyle MacLachlan will resume his role of Special Agent Dale Cooper!

Q&A with Sheryl Lee and Bobby Briggs at the Twin Peaks UK Festival 2014

But then a fish was dropped in the peculator... In early April, Lynch quite dramatically announced his departure, stating that he had been calling the actors to tell them personally that due to financial issues with the network, he would not direct. This was disastrous news. But oh how we rallied...

Fans from across the globe joined forces with the cast themselves to do whatever it would take to convince Showtime that without David Lynch, there could be no Twin Peaks. A petition received over 29,000 signatures, the hashtag #SaveTwinPeaks began trending on Twitter and a social media thunderclap was arranged.

The amazing cast made a moving video about what Twin Peaks without David Lynch would be like. It's so inspiring how passionate about the show they remain and how much it means to them, as well as us. They love it for the same reasons and just as much as the fans. The cast set up a Facebook Page called Official Twin Peaks Cast Run Site and made every effort to motivate fans to keep using social media as a tool of protest. Contributions, messages and photos came from Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Dana Ashbrook, Kimmy Robertson (Lucy), Jennifer Lynch and Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson). Sherilyn in particular was excellent at keeping in touch with the fans, sharing any news she had personally as soon as she could.

To me it seemed clear that bringing Twin Peaks back without David Lynch directing would be an enormous mistake. Of course many episodes of the 1st and 2nd series were directed by guest directors but the episodes Lynch directed are by far the most iconic, important, memorable and flawless. It feels like a once in a lifetime, dream opportunity and if after 25 years Twin Peaks is returning it has to be done right. Sherilyn Fenn stated that if Lynch didn't direct, she would not be involved and Audrey would either have to be re-cast or *SPOILER* have met her death in the bank explosion... Can you imagine?!

The fans didn’t give up on social media and the cast kept sending messages of hope and support. I honestly did not believe it would go ahead without Lynch and thought surely Showtime would be
able to work things out with him. On May 16th our wishes came true: "Dear Twitter friends, the rumors are not what they seem... It is!!! Happening again." and Showtime confirmed that David Lynch is back on board! Please, lets make that the end of Lynch's dramatic bad news tweets. I hope it is!

Since then Sherilyn Fenn and Sheryl Lee have appeared at Seattle's Crypticon where they confirmed that Angelo Badalementi would return to compose new music for the show and there would not be a mere 9 episodes but 18 in total! Rumors are that much of the show will be shot on location in North Bend, WA where the pilot was shot, and the original site of the RR Diner (now Twede's Café) will be restored to its former 90s Twin Peaks glory. There is a good article about this at Welcome To Twin Peaks.

So that is the story so far between Showtime and Twin Peaks concerning the revival. It's been tumultuous but the power of the extraordinarily passionate cast and the dedicated fans proves to be stronger than ever. Now we just have to wait...

What Is A Twin Peaks Blue Rose?

I've been asked to explain where the name of my blog, The Blue Rose, has come from and why it relates to Twin Peaks. Fanatics, don't feel patronized. I know it's obvious to some of us Twin Peaks obsessives! But I want this blog to be a good guide for people who are beginning to discover Twin Peaks for the first time - I'm predicting an entire new generation will become fans of Twin Peaks this year and next, before the Showtime revival hits our screens.

The blue rose doesn't actually appear in Twin Peaks the TV series, but in Fire Walk With Me, the prequel film David Lynch made after the show was cancelled. Fire Walk With Me takes us back in time to before Laura's death and investigates what happened in her final days leading up to it. It is seriously worth watching but incredibly dark.

Gordon Cole of the FBI (played by David Lynch himself) uses the blue rose as a secret FBI symbol to represent that a case is un-explained and under particularly unusual circumstances. These cases are shrouded in mystery with elements of the supernatural. In reality blue roses are modified to be blue, they do not exist in nature. This is why they have come to represent a symbol of mystery, not just in the world of Twin Peaks, but in popular culture in general.

The Twin Peaks Wikia page has some more interesting points about the Blue Rose cases but this does contain some SPOILERS so click with caution. They interestingly mention that director David Lynch's Los Angeles home is on a street named 'Blue Rose Street' but I can't find it on Google Maps... How very mysterious.

At last year's Twin Peaks UK Festival attendees were given really pretty blue roses upon arrival and I've kept mine. It sits on my mantelpiece next to my Laura Palmer prom picture (I'm really revealing what a creep I am here!). And that's where the inspiration for my blog name, The Blue Rose, came. Next thing is to design a banner, or rather, find someone who can design a fabulous banner for me!

How To Host A Twin Peaks Party!

Twin Peaks is a great theme for a party and what better time to celebrate then now? It's the 25th anniversary and we've all been blessed with the good news that Twin Peaks will be soon to return to our screens. In my 3rd year of university myself and some friends got together for a little Twin Peaks dinner followed by a screening of Fire Walk With Me and it was so much fun!

Here are some ideas and tips for you to host your own Twin Peaks party - I hope you will feel inspired. I'd love to hear from you if you do or if you have some great ideas of your own to share. Comment below or tweet me some pics! @TheBlueRoseBlog

Dress Code

There are so many great characters that are fun to dress up as and if you have some extra creative friends who love fancy dress this should be encouraged! I've seen some amazing costumes at the Twin Peaks UK Festival: FBI Agents, Log Ladies, diner waitresses, owls, even a human ceiling fan! Make sure there is a prize for the winner: eBay is full of Twin Peaks mugs, badges, tee shirts and other great gift ideas.

Laura Palmer realness - very difficult to see with
these contact lenses in! And a wig even worse than the one she wore in FWWM...
Plaid shirts at the Twin Peaks Festival 2013 - with Ian Buchanan, Charlotte Stewart and mega babe Mädchen Amick

If you are short for time or don't want to be too elaborate, it's also easy to simply dress in the style - one year a group of us attended the festival all wearing plaid shirts and it looked really good!
Or pop into a local vintage clothing shop and you will be spoiled for choice. Anything that looks 90s or 80s will be perfect. Channel Catherine Martell in power shoulder pads or Lucy the receptionist in an oversized jumper.

My favourite places to find vintage clothing online:

Beyond Retro

Decorations & Atmosphere

There are some great Twin Peaks playlists on Spotify already that you can take advantage of but if you are making your own be sure to include the soundtrack music by brilliant composer Angelo Badalamenti, Julee Cruise's albums The Voice of Love and Floating Into The Night and even the music of director David Lynch himself.

Project Twin Peaks above the party using a projector - this would be the perfect backdrop.

Print out Laura Palmer's prom photo and display it on a mantel piece or side table in a gold frame. Stick extracts from Laura Palmer's Secret Diary around the room, as well as other mysterious notes from the show...

Hang some red fabric across the door way into your party so guests feel as if they are stepping into the Black Lodge or if you are ambitious you could try recreating the Black Lodge itself in your living room!

Now we all know how important it is to treat yourself to a, excuse me, damn fine cup of coffee! But coffee is always best served at the end of dinner or if you are having a boozey party, maybe not at all! In which case, you have no excuse but to whip up some Espresso Martinis as a substitute.

Cooper's Off-Duty Espresso Martini (Serves 1)

50ml premium quality vodka
35ml coffee liqueur
1 shot (25ml) of David Lynch Signature Cup Organic Espresso (or other espresso of your choice)

Fill a martini glass with ice to chill.
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
Shake it up! Make sure the ice all smashes up to give it a nice, frothy top.
Strain out the contents directly into your martini glass and garnish with 3 small coffee beans.

At our Twin Peaks dinner we served fish (fresh from the percolator!) with some vegetables and garmonbozia - more commonly known as creamed corn. I made a simple white sauce and mixed in the sweetcorn. It's indulgent American comfort food at its finest!

I want all my Garmonbozia!
Dessert couldn't be anything other than RR Diner special Cherry Pie. Many big supermarkets now sell these freshly made in their bakery sections but you can easily find great cherry pie recipes online if you are a keen baker.

Doughnuts at the Twin Peaks UK Festival 2011 ©She.Brown

No Twin Peaks party would be complete without some perfectly stacked doughnuts - the superfood of sheriffs! And if that isn't enough sweet treats for you, I was inspired by some gorgeous cupcakes someone made for the Twin Peaks UK Festival in 2011. I love that chocolate flakes were used for mini logs - so cute!

Of course you will be tempted to sit down and screen a few episodes. If you decide to screen Fire Walk With Me I think you might be in need of some light relief afterwards...! I found this Twin Peaks themed Cards Against Humanity game online and think it would make the perfect post-screening or post-dinner game. You can purchase it online from Etsy here.

Or maybe you own an original Twin Peaks board game? I've never even seen one and would do anything to play it. I'm hoping with the new episodes coming out maybe a Twin Peaks Monopoly will be produced...

Enjoy your parties and make sure you comment below with all of your own great ideas!
